Message from the Coach

Hi Everyone - hope all is well and you are enjoying your summer!

Can't believe Labor Day is approaching.

The good news is that the 2010-2011 swim season is just around the corner!

We had a great year last year and look forward to building upon the success we experienced.

Check the group listings for the new season that was emailed to you.  If you do not find your name on the list kindly email me and I will make the correction.

Any swimmer that is in our Swim School (formerly called Guppies) should contact me about their group and schedule.

If you do not plan on coming back please email me so that I can offer the space to another child and remove you from our distribution list

The official start date for all groups is Monday September 13th.

However, we will be doing some "pre-season practices" for any swimmer in the Gold, Senior or Senior Elite groups who is around.

We will run pre-season workouts for Senior and Senior Elite Monday-Friday, August 30 - September 3 and Tuesday-Friday, September 7-10th from 4-6 PM.  Please bring dryland clothes as the practice will be a combination of swim and drylands.

Gold will have pre-season workouts September 1, 3, 7, 9, and 10.  They too will swim 4-6 PM.  Dryland clothes are not needed.

Finally, we are always looking for new swimmers.  We find that our own families are our best form of advertisement.  If you know of any swimmer, especially younger children, who may be interested in joining the team please have them email me for a tryout.

The team handbook and various forms are uploaded (see links above)

They include:

1.  Team Handbook
2.  Registration Form
3.  Medical Release Form
4.  Parent Contract
5.  Practice Schedule
6.  Meet Schedule

Please read the Handbook carefully.  Some sections have been revised.

Amongst the revisions:  Please note that we have changed the name of our learn-to-swim class from "Guppies" to simply "Swim School."  Hopefully this will make it clearer to families who are in the program or new to the program that the group is designed for beginning swimmers.

Also note the section on "Facilities/Behavior."  This is a new and important section and should be discussed with your child.  At the request of the college, children will no longer be able to "hang out" on the second floor viewing area without a parent.  They should report to the pool immediately or wait in the pool lobby area.  Also, take a moment to discuss with your child the proper way to behave while in the building and towards each other.

Finally, please note that the fee for the year has increased ($100 per group).  While considering the fact that having your child on the swim team is a financial commitment, the fact is that we have not increased the fee since the 2004-2005 season.  I know of no other program that has not raised their rates during that period.  We are still well under the rates that comparable teams charge.

Please return the Registration Form. Medical Release Form, Parent Contract and appropriate payment to the team during the first week of practice (September 13-17)

Enjoy the remaining days of summer.  I look forward to seeing each of you.

Swimcerely,
KevinBest
